About / Contact

A few years ago, it occurred to me that although I had built several other websites, I never created a personal blog. “One of these days, I need to do that!” Never happened, of course. Recently, I was visiting with my mother who is currently 87 years old. She is now at the age where she actually enjoys hearing my life stories about days gone by. As I finished one of my tales, she looked directly at me and said “You need to write this stuff down before you get old like me and forget it all!” I never argue with Mom. Mom is always right. Hence, CheapoLife was born.

Several of you are probably wondering “What is CheapoLife?” CheapoLife actually began back in late 2009 as a site highlighting sales, deals, discounts, and special promotional offers at various stores and restaurants. A few years ago, it was merged with another of my sites. I foolishly allowed the domain name cheapolife.com to expire and it was quickly snatched up by a domain parker. But since I still had it configured on my server along with a now empty installation of WordPress, I decided to just go with that. I freely admit that I’ve always lived my life ‘on the cheap’ for which I credit my early years working in radio at abysmally low salaries. So, CheapoLife it is. Besides, it sounds better than just calling it “blog”, “Drew’s blog”, or something equally as dopey.

If you have thoughts or suggestions on how to make this website better, I’d love to hear from you.  If you’ve just found this site and are enjoying it, I’d like to know that, too. Drop me a note and let me know where you’re reading about my crazy cheapo life. Feel free to comment below the individual articles or e-mail me: cheapolife@gmail.com. I will respond as soon as I am able. Please DO NOT use this e-mail address for spam or add it to mailing lists without permission.

CheapoLife is not affiliated with any of the companies mentioned on this website. In no way does CheapoLife claim to represent or own their trademarks or products. Any trademarks appearing on this website are the exclusive property of their owners. My opinions are my own.

I tried to make a friend request to Mrs. Ekegren, to let her know how fondly she is remembered. However, I don’t use FB very often and didn’t know how to do it. I did find that she has a FB page.
