I’m sitting at a McDonald’s in St. Cloud. Lately, I’ve noticed the speed of the McDonald’s/AT&T Wayport Wi-Fi network varies greatly, depending on the location. Some places are lightning fast while others are slow as hell. Unfortunately, this one is the latter. I’m guessing it has to do with the number of people who are using the network at any given time. The more users the router has to feed, the slower the speed will be for each person.
Oh, well. It’s free, so I’m not complaining. I was hungry and McDonald’s has unlimited free drink refills. Heading back from 16 days up north, I decided to work here for a few hours instead of sitting in I-94/494 rush hour traffic for a few hours. The free Wi-Fi is a much appreciated perk for road warriors like me who have to work while we’re on vacation!
