No Alcohol in Park Unless it’s Beer or Wine

While walking through East Park in Mason City, Iowa this morning, I noticed this sign. Apparently, beer and wine is somehow more acceptable or “safer” than liquor.

Way back in Drivers Ed., we learned that one 12 ounce can of beer, one 5 ounce glass of wine, and one 1 ounce shot of booze all contain the same amount of alcohol. Remember watching those old 16mm movies about drunk drivers and the mayhem they caused? They never specified that only hard liquor was consumed. Then, when I was 16, I found out by personal experience that one can get totally inebriated on plain old beer. What gives?
